Our Minds Matter (OMM) started out as an independent voluntary organisation striving to make a difference.
The group first got together after a seminar in 2015 which highlighted the importance of mental health within religion. Our members were quick to identify that the concept of mental health is health focused and not religiously, culturally or ethnically driven. Our team have since set out to focus on prevention as opposed to intervention and thrive on tackling and breaking associated stigma.
We then developed a targeted approach to help tackle health inequalities and promote mental health and well-being. We have been actively involved in raising the profile of mental health in partnership with statutory and non-statutory organisations along with faith groups and other relevant charities.
With several partnerships in place and many in the making, Our Minds Matter quickly became a leading name in mental health and wellbeing in Luton. With the NHS, Recovery College and Luton Council of Faiths (to name a few) supporting our work and today we aim to go from strength to strength.
